•     What is the EJ Whitten Legends Game?                                                                    The Ray White EJ Whitten Legends Game is a unique fundraising initiative to raise money for prostate cancer research and to promote the awareness of men’s health. The annual event reunites recently retired champions of Australian Rules Football in a nationally televised, State of Origin football match between Victoria and the All Stars. In collaboration with the EJ Whitten Foundation, the Legends game commemorates the legacy of football legend EJ Whitten and celebrates the proud tradition of state competition.

Since it's founding game in 1996, the event has proudly raised nearly $1 million for the EJ Whitten Foundation.


•    Who organises the game?
The organisers of the event are sports and events management specialists Baker Smith Management. The directors Wes Smith and Michael Baker created the event in 1996 as a way to honour Ted Whitten and bring State of Origin football back to the forefront. From humble beginnings at the Whitten Oval they have since transformed the game into one of Melbourne’s premier sporting events in support of Prostate Cancer research and men’s health.

•    Where do funds raised go?
A percentage of proceeds from the event are passed on to the EJ Whitten Foundation who distributes these to organisations in aid of prostate cancer research and support. •    What date is the game on in 2010?
This year the game will be held on Tuesday 6th July. This is during the second week of the Victorian school holidays.


•    What time does the game start?
Gates open at 6pm for Auskick games and pre-game entertainment. Kick-off is at approximately 7:30pm.


•    What time does it finish?
Finish time is dependent on the scores and potential overtime  but will be around 9:30pm.


•    Where is the game held?
The game is held at Etihad Stadium in Docklands, Melbourne.  More information on the stadium facilities and access can be found at www.etihadstadium.com.au


•    How do I get to Etihad Stadium?

•    When will team line-ups be announced?
Team line-ups are officially announced at the media launch in June. Keep an eye on the website news and Facebook though as we may release some teaser announcements before we release the full listings..


•    Where can I buy tickets?
You can buy tickets from Ticketmaster online or ticket outlets. See www.ticketmaster.com.au for more information. You can also purchase tickets at the stadium on the night.


•    When do tickets go on sale?
Ticketmaster will release tickets for sale from the beginning of June.

 

•    How much are tickets?

    Adult:                       $16
    Family:                     $40   
    Concession:               $7
    Junior (7-15 years):   $7
    Children (Under 6):    Free

•    What do family tickets include?
A family ticket includes general admission for two adults and two children.


•    Am I eligible for a concession ticket?
Concession tickets apply to Pensioners, Veteran Affairs and TPI,
2010 Full Time Students, valid Personal Treatment Entitlement Card holders and valid Healthcare Card holders.


•    Where can I buy merchandise?
There will be a variety of merchandise up for purchase on the night and we will also be auctioning off exclusive signed merchandise on www.aflauctions.com.au later in the year


•    How can I get involved in the game?
The Play in the Game Competition allows two people to play in the game; one for Victoria and the other for the All Stars.  Applications can be made online - Register here

 

•    Will there be food sold during the game?
Etihad Stadium has a diverse range of Food and Beverage that will be available during the game.



•    How can I hear commentary while at the game?
Channel 9's live commentary will be broadcast throughout the stadium so bring your radios and tune-in throughout the evening.


•    Will there be an opportunity to meet the players?
We have introduced FAN FEST to the Legends Game where players and mascots will be available for autographs and photos before the game commences. Fan Fest begins at 6pm near the LiveWire Bar on Level 2 of Etihad Stadium and will finish promptly at 6:30pm so get there quickly to avoid disappointment.


•    What facilities are provided for the mobility impaired?

•    What is the Whitten Dinner and how can I attend?
Each year, as part of the Ray White EJ Whitten Legends Game, the Whitten Dinner is held as the official pre-game function to celebrate the legacy of the great EJ Whitten in support of Prostate Cancer research and awareness.

As the official pre-game function the Whitten Dinner is attended by AFL legends, celebrities and high-profile athletes and is fast becoming one of the premier events on the Australian sporting calendar.

•    I can't be there, where can I watch the game?
The 2010 Legends Game is being televised on Channel Nine or WIN in VIC, TAS, SA, WA and NT on the 6th of July. Broadcast live at 7:30pm in VIC and TAS. Please check your local listings for times in other states.


•    I missed the game! Can I get a copy on DVD?
We receive many requests for DVD copies of the game, and although we haven't produced DVD's for sale previously, it is something we will be looking into for the future.
