The EJ Whitten Foundation was formed in 1995 to commemorate the memory of Ted Whitten Snr. Prostate cancer took Ted from us in August 1995. If he had known more about the illness and its ramifications he may have still been with us today.
Led by his son, Ted Whitten Jnr, the Foundation aims to increase national awareness of Prostate cancer, promote early detection and raise funds for research into the disease through a variety of fundraising and campaign activities.
Since 1995, the Foundation has raised 1.8 million dollars for Prostate cancer research. Funds raised go to the:
- EJ Whitten Fellowship at the Cancer Council of Victoria.
- Alfred Foundation (William Buckland Prostate Centre)
- Garvan Institute of Medical Research
- EJ Whitten Prostatic Assessment Centre
- EJ Whitten Cancer Treatment Centre at the Western Private Hospital.
From humble beginnings the Foundation has become a national success. The growing list of fundraising activities now includes:
- The Ray White EJ Whitten Legends Game
- Grand Final Luncheon
- Brownlow Medal Dinner
- Corporate Golf Days
- Caduceus Club Memorial Lunch
- The National Pub/Golf Challenge
- Foster’s Sportsmen Lunches in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne
- Polo Luncheon in Melbourne.
With chapters soon to open in every major city and a host of activities planned for 2008, the Foundation remains committed to raising the awareness of prostate cancer and men's health. To find out more information about The EJ Whitten Foundation or to make a donation, contact 1300 WHITTEN or visit
